The purpose of this laboratory is to purify the unknown mixture of acetone / water by partial and simple distillation. This process is a practical method of separating the two liquids at their boiling points.
Material
-Water and acetone mixture
Equipment
– A setup for fractional distillation and simple distillation
-Volume measuring equipment
-100 mL round bottom flask
-Heating equipment
Procedure
Get 70 mL of acetone / water solution in a round bottom flask with several boiling chips. Do a partial distillation, recording the temperature with each 5 mL distillation. Record the weight of acetone, water and the remaining fractions. Repeat the same process, but with the usual distillation set up without column adhesion.
#8- could simple distillation be used to isolate a pure sample? if
so, in what type if situation would this be possible?
thank you!!
b. Which component should distill off first? c How does the boiling point of that liquid compare to temperature measurements at the beginning of both simple and fractional distilation? d. What does this comparison tell you about the composition of the intial distlation from both simple and fractional diestilation? e Using vour tractional distilation plot, estimate...

For lab we separated hexane and heptane using fractional and simple distillation. 4. Based upon your results, do you think you could separate a mixture of n-heptane and isopropanol (bp 82ºC)? Explain. Based upon your results, do you think you could separate a mixture of n-heptane and toluene (bp 115 ºC)? Explain.
What are the applications of simple and fractional distillation A)Simple distillation is used when a substance is less than 10% impure while fractional distillation is used to purify a compound when the impurities are greater than 10% of the mixture. B) Simple distillation is preferred when a higher percent recovery of pure material is desired. C) Fractional distillation is preferred when a higher percent recovery of pure material is desired. D) Simple distillation must be done if the compound has...
simple and fractional distillation 2. briefly explain the principle of fractional distillation and show how this technique has been applied in refining oil
- What is the difference between simple and fractional distillation?
Why does fractional distillation result in more pure products but lower yields? Can simple or fractional distillation result in distillation of pure ethanol? Explain.
Please explain the differences in simple distillation and
fractional distillation based on this graph. I will thumbs up if
all work is shown.

47. Method A assumes simple interest over final fractional periods, while Method B assumes simple discount over final fractional periods. The annual effective rate of interest is 20%. Find the ratio of the present value of a payment to be made in 1.5 years computed under Method A to that computed under Method B.
Are fractional and micro distillation the same thing? Are simple and macro distillation the same? please explain all 4
