What is collective security and how does it deter war? Support your answer with   example.

• In simple terms collective security means when a group of different countries or nations come together to fight against one nation,that is planning to attack a particular nation from that group.
• For example,in a simplified form,India and America could pledge to form an alliance,if an attack is being planned by some other nation on India.America could help India,face the attack,by providing them their military aid.
• League of Nations and the United Nations were founded on the principle of collective security.
• This term states that when each nation in a system or group accept that security of one nation in the system is a concern for all,and they need to come together to fight that war,as it might threaten world peace.
• This collective security helps to prevent war,since various nations are forming an alliance to face one attacker nation,thus providing them an upper hand in term of resources,military,finances etc. making them strong enough and one nation alone cannot attack all of them together.So,the attacker nation would ultimately back down,seeing the strong system.This would help maintain peace globally.
