Immigration-

Should we raise barriers to legal immigration into the United States? What would be the consequences (both positive and negative)?   I want to be clear: this discussion has nothing to do with illegal immigration, "the wall" or the travel ban.

Answer #1

Raising barriers to legal immigration will make for higher wages for US workers and increasing job opportunities for them and at same time decrease unemployment rate within USA and lower import reliance.

However the disadvantage like contracting GDP, fall in competitive advantage, higher costs and loss of revenues will alllead to sharp degrowth.

Hence it is in best interest to maintain bareiers upto threshold level and not go beyond which can have dire consequences.
