1. Two long, straight parallel electrical wires are mounted on poles such that one wire is mounted 3.0 cm higher than the other. There is a current of 100 A in the same direction in each wire. Each wire has a mass of 0.042 kg per meter of length.

A. Calculate the magnitude of the force per unit length acting on the lower wire due to the magnetic field created by the upper wire. Also clearly indicate the direction of the magnetic force on the lower wire.

B. Now the lower wire has somehow become detached from its supports. Calculate the weight per unit length of the lower wire and then compare to your answer from part A. Does it drop to the ground, or is the magnetic force due to the upper wire large enough to support the weight of the lower wire? (use g = 9.8 m/s^2)
