The correlation between arm circumference and weight is 0.961804

After graphing the two, the slope = 0.236 and the intercept = 13.715, r2 = 0.9251

1. Build a regression model with the correlation of arm circumference and weight. Write the regression equation below.

1b. is the slope significant? why or why not?

1c. Interpret the slope.

1d. The coefficient of determination = 0.9251, interpret the coefficient of determination.

Answer #1

1. The regression equation is :

weight = 13.715 + 0.236*arm circumference

1b. Since correlation coefficient is too close to 1 so we can conclude that there is perfect linear relationship between arm circumference and weight.

So, the slope will be statistically significant.

1c. For a unit increase in arm circumference, weight will increase y 0.236 unit.

1.d) 92.51% variation in weight can be explained by the regression equation using arm circumference as a predictor.

    Question 47 (20 points) A local tire dealer wants to predict the number of tires sold each month. He believes that the number of tires sold is a linear function of the amount of money invested in advertising. He randomly selects 6 months of data consisting of tire sales (in thousands of tires) and advertising expenditures (in thousands of dollars). Based on the data set with 6 observations, the simple linear regression model yielded the following results. X = 24...
