Answer #1
  • Positive stereotypes exist for just about every identity and have the capacity to be just as damaging as the negative ones.Even thought being an introvert I was stereotyped as many other introverts to be a good listener and intelligent and helpful in nature. This positive stereotype benefited me in the sense that I made friends who understood me and my personality and often seeked my advice. But after a while this positive stereotype, backfired also.
  • My friends started taking me for granted and my quiet nature was being considered my weakness. They kept saying I was wise and intelligent and worked according to a plan which ended up me being the scapegoat of completely all the group presentations all by myself with little help from them.
  • I think I could have spoken up and kept my point assertively instead of quitely agreeing to everything and explaining them that being an introvert and being quiet is not a weakness and you cannot take advantage of people just because they wont speak up.I wish I had conveyed this point across to avoid the side effects of this stereotype.
