From providing the salient features to comparing those features with another variable, these kind of arguments helps in differentiating between two types of the same object or theory.

Their similarity with other kinds of arguments lies in their laying out all the features of the object for the reader to understand and evaluate. Whether it be good or bad, all the features are conveyed which helps in deriving better knowledge about the object among the participants of the argumentation.

The main difference between the "Compare and Contrast" form of arguments from other kinds of argument is that it compares the object with a similar object having almost the same features.
