Applications of Confidence Intervals
I surveyed 20 co workers to see what cell phone provider they use.
| Phone Provider | Population | Percentage |
| At&T | 3 | 15% |
| T-Mobile | 3 | 15% |
| Verizon | 6 | 30% |
| Metro PCS | 6 | 30% |
| Sprint | 2 | 10% |
The confidence level I will use is 85%. What is the critical interval for Verizon customers?
The confidence level I will use is 80%. What is the critical interval for Verizon customers?
Please show me what steps you took...this topic is really confusing for me!
I assume you want confidence interval for proportion of population who use Verizon
confidence interval for proportion is
(p^ - z * sqrt(pq/n) , p^ + z * sqrt(pq/n))
z is critical value
Now
you can find critical value using normal distribution table or using software like R,SPSS,Minitab
Using R
for 85% confidence level
z= =NORMSINV(1-(1-0.85)/2)
=1.4395
b)
for 80%
z = =NORMSINV(1-(1-0.8)/2)
= 1.2816
Please rate

Suppose that I want to construct a confidence interval for a two-sample problem with degrees of freedom k = 35. Using the t.dist function in Excel, tell me what confidence level C we would get if we used a t* of 1.690. Explain how you get from the t.dist function to your final answer here. Aside: Notice that it is the same basic formula as all our other confidence intervals: CI = our estimated mean ± a critical value *...
I really need help with my Confidence Intervals for the Mean homework, can someone please help? 1. You measure 34 dogs' weights, and find they have a mean weight of 52 ounces. Assume the population standard deviation is 10.2 ounces. Based on this, construct a 99% confidence interval for the true population mean dog weight. Give your answers as decimals, to two places ________________ ± ______________ ounces 2. Assume that a sample is used to estimate a population mean μμ....

Can anyone please help me with my Confidence Intervals for Proportions homework? Thank you so much! 1. Express the confidence interval 38.6%±9%38.6%±9% in interval form. Express the answer in decimal format (do not enter as percents). 2. We wish to estimate what percent of adult residents in a certain county are parents. Out of 100 adult residents sampled, 26 had kids. Based on this, construct a 95% confidence interval for the proportion, p, of adult residents who are parents in this...
Recall that the formula for a confidence interval is Statistc + MOE. Next you will need to interpret the confidence interval. The interpretation of a confidence interval should always include 3 things: the level of confidence, reference to the parameter in context and the calculated interval. Notice that the only difference between this worksheet and the calculating confidence intervals worksheet from module 8 is that you now need to calculate the margin of error. 1. Suppose that a recent study...

Hello, please help me understand what to look for so that I use
the right method on the TI 83 and the steps for TI 83.
Assume that we want to construct a confidence interval. Do one of the following, as appropriate: (a) find the critic value/2. (b) find the critical value Zu/2. or (c) state that neither the normal distribution nor the t distribution applies 40- 30 The confidence level is 99%, σ is not known, and the histogram...
