Aliva, a company famous for its frozen food products, is quite a name among the frozen food companies. Over the years, it has carved a unique reputation and a loyal customer base. this has helped the company in growing to become an organization currently employing 4500 people and it operates in over 5 states in the USA.
But my studies into the human resources have shown that although the company' employees are very loyal to the company, they lack skills needed to perform their job efficiently and need to undergo training and need more challenging work to develop their working abilities. Moreover, the human resource department needs diversification.
To meet future challenges, the company will need to recruit new employees as well as train and develop the skills of the existing staff.
For the diversification of HR, we need to include more female employees as well as people from minority communities. This will be addressed by conducting interviews by advertising various job openings. The recruitment and selection will be done by a team who will be under my direct supervision and every step will be monitored by the management. In the end, we think the outcome of attaining a diverse workforce will be attained.
For the existing staff, professionals will be hired temporarily who will be teaching the new techniques to improve the work performance of the staff. The research and development staff will be undergoing training for acquiring better ways of research skills as well as innovative techniques. similarly, the administration staff needs to be trained in the new system which I am proposing to be in use by the end of this year. This will help in reducing the efforts needed for office administration and will help in organizing the data in a proper format.
also, the lower level employees will be given challenging tasks along with their regular work to develop and hone their skills. This will ensure a more effective work performance from them in lesser time which will be reducing the cost of production by at least 15% by next year.
The pay and incentives system will undergo a reconstuction and the results of the training and development courses will help us in determining which employees can take bigger responsibilities. This along with their performance appraisal results will be the basis for basic pay. This will ensure that the employees are aptly encouraged to perform better which will result in better pay for them.
however, the employees will be given added incentives regardless of the training results. the incentives will include a bit more flexibility in the working hours, more holidays and a yearly bonus among others.
As stated above, the payment structure will be partly based on the performance appraisal methods. For this reason, its necessary to have a proper review system which will allow the management to monitor the performance of each employee, their team, their department in the overall realization of the organizational goals.
The appraisal will be conducted on two factors. first will be the efficiency of the employees. Their performance will be compared with the standards on the basis of accuracy and the amount of time it took them to finish the task. The second factor will be to find the difference in the cost of the work performed and how much the efficiency of the employees helped in the reduction in the costs for the company.
The HR management is hoping that the above methods will result in a diverse, skilled and efficient workforce which will take the company to greater heights and even greater success int the future.
