Since 1996, Cyber Intelligence (CYBINT) has been increasingly recognized as a rapidly growing analytic intelligence discipline.Why is this the case and provide examples of how the Intelligence Community is demonstrating this recognition.

Cyber Intelligence is defined as the products and processes across the intelligence cycle of assessing the capabilities, intentions and activities of potential adversaries and competitors in the cyber domain.

Intelligence functions for cyber security includes collecting, processing, analyzing, contextualizing and reporting threat information to a supported decision maker so that it can be used effectively.

The need to develop a robust cyber intelligence capability is not limited to law enforcement, national security and intelligence agencies or military organizations. Commercial and other quasi-public entities are realizing that they too must have cyber intelligence to secure their networks and data.

Cyber security is being taught as Information Technology discipline. The students in this area are being taught the tools of the trade and the capabilities of those tools. A deeper understanding of computer science is required as the real threats in the field are programmers. The weapons are  the code they write.

In this technologically developed world, individuals and organizations are constantly connected to the the internet to carry out all personal and financial matters. The criminals take advantage of our constant connectivity to steal our information and money.

  The reasons why cyber threat intelligence is important for any growing organization are:

It helps the organization to analyze the cyber threats, so that the organization can determine whether the security defense system can block such an attack.

In US, Intelligence Community takes a leading role in preventing cyber attacks. Various organization within the IC pursue some of the following tasks:
