Answer #1

A SMART goal is the one which is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely in nature. It helps to set goals which can are specific which means will give specific results, those results can be measured against a pre-established benchmark, they are relevant towards the vision and mission of the business, could be attained or achieved with the present set up which includes land, labor, capital, technology and lastly have a specific time to be achieved.

Once a goal converts into a SMART goal it becomes clear what to do for the employees and they stay motivated towards it. Further, the part of measurement is the most important because till the time something cannot be measured it cannot be done. Even by setting up defined time parameters it becomes essential to attain them within the time frame.

Example: Increasing the production of Television sets by 10% over the last quarter by Nov so as to increase the market share of the company.
