when methane CH4 reacts with excess I2 in presence of the heat or light it undergoes the free radical halogenation and forms the final product & the reaction mechanism involves a series of reactions as follows

CH4 + I2 ----------------> CH3I + HI

CH3I + I2 ---------------> CH2I2 + HI

CH2I2 + I2 ---------------> CHI3 + HI

CHI3 + I2 ------------------> CI4 + HI

answer => the products are CH3I , CH2I2 , CHI3 , CI4
