Anion is a negitively charged atom.

When an electron is added to an atom of Phosphorus,it attains a negitive charge on itself(forms Phosphorour anion).

^{(Neutral atom) (electron) . (Phosphorus anion)}

Therfore chemical symbol = P^{​​​​​​-}
