In insurance, mitigation is used to cover or at least reduce the losses that might be caused to the property owing to any sort of natural disaster. Mitigation also attempts in measurement of the steps that are taken in general to reduce or prevent some sort of disruptive impact that may take place upon such property. Therefore, when insurance is used as a mitigation tool, a portion of the harm, or at times even full, is covered by the insurance, thereby reducing the intensity of such a harm to the extent coverage is provided financially to the Insurance holder.
