John, having barely made the turn in the passageway, takes one moment to draw his gun as he keeps floating down the hallway. A parasite takes more time to arrange the corner, however is again in pursuit. That extra time offers John the chance to flip over, point, and shoot a projectile from his gun at the parasite, while still going down the hallway. From firing the gun, does John's kinetic energy decrease, increase, or remain the same? Is the work done on John by the gun positive or negative? (Use work-energy theorem and Newton's third law for justifying the answer.)
