answer-
Pay for performance plan for Nurses so that it can improve their effectiveness and productivity while increasing the quality of care to patients-
The plan will include following steps and components-
At first, i would have discussion with nurses and staff of my acute care setting (where slightly more than half of registered nurses still work) and find out what things are causing their burnout, stress, lower productivity and what things motivate and encourage them to work hard at this healthcare organization.
Second step and components will be making a incentive plan for nurses which would motivate and encourage them. This incentive plan would be based on their merit means performance in which they show high performance at acute care setting they work then they will get incentives and bonuses.
third addition of non monetary benefits like flexible work schedule when work is not much but nurses has to work hard on core time of business. child care facility for children of nurses, cafeteria and food coupons for discount food, medical benefits etc.
last step would be reviewing their performance that they are performing according to set standards or not. this way, i will be able to know that the plan is making them effective and productive or not. this would be seen in improve patient satisfaction, increase care quality and reduce healthcare cost and patient readmission.
This new system will help me to motivate and increase productivity of nurses because most of the nurses face stress and burnout as they do not earn much and work long hours which discourage them but my plan will remove their stress and burnout with incentives, bonuses and flex hours or scheduled hours where they can work flexibly and reduce their personal tension and work tension. This way, they will concentrate on providing high quality care to patients in healthcare organization like never before.
