Multi-Core Processor System: This means that the computing component is single which is having two or more than two seperate processing units. These processing units are called cores. The system has only one CPU with multiple number of cores. These cores have the capability of executing normal computing instructions like adding, copying or moving data and many other mathematical operations.

Since system is having multiple cores, so a single processor is capable in running several functions at the same time. This function of multicores increases the overall speed of the program execution. This in turn reduces the generated heat by CPU and thus increases the speed to execute the instructions. These processors are made to run parllelly to achieve higher speed.

Thus, main advantage of these processors is that they consume less energy which makes them more efficient.

Multi-Processor System: It means that there many processors in a computer but are connected to the same system bus, memory, and other I/O lines. For example: if there are ten processes to be executed by a uni processor system,only one process will be executed at a time while the other processes will be in queue waiting to get executed.

This processor system increases the reliability as if one processor is not working properly the required function can be executed by the other processor.

So it is clear from the above explanation: while running a single program in a multicore system it will run faster than multiprocessor system. And single program is best suited to run on uni-core processors. Thus, Multi core processors achieve more computational speed than multi-processor system.
