Answer #1

When astronomers were continuously watching the orbit of Uranus, they noted some discrepancy. In some points, Uranus loose track of its orbit. This lead to speculation that there should be another mass near Uranus, that pulls Uranus out of its orbit when it comes near to it. This was later verified by discovering Neptune.
