If the antibiotics in the system decay at an exponential rate with a half-life of 4 hours, give one solution of dosage (amount and equally spaced time duration/day) to maintain the concentration at all times above 100 mg and below 300 mg. State your assumptions

Hi,

In the question it is mentioned that the antibiotic inside system disappear with a half life of 4 hours. Hence if we give the patient a bottle of antibiotic of 800 mg for 1 day and prescribe a first dose of 200 mg and 100 mg after every 4 hours will maintain the dosage in the range of 100-200 mg.

200 mg first dose - 200-100 mg in body in first 4 hours

+100 mg (2nd dose after 4 hour) - 100 in body + 100 given = 200 mg

It again reduces to 100 mg in next 4 hours and the dosage continues.

Like that 6 doses of 100 mg + initial 200 mg = 800 mg per day.

It can be continued for days.
