We know at the outset that Apple sells quality products that reflect premium pricing (higher priced) and thus status plays an important role. Apple also has a group of fans and loyal customers.

Consumer behavior theories are meant to explain and forecast how customers make purchasing decisions and thus help marketing managers to exploit or capitalise on such behaviors. As such the following theories apply:

1. Buying on an impulse forms a good part of buying behaviour for some customers and yes, Apple benefits from such behaviour from some customers who decide to take advantage of a promotion that Apple offers
2. Customers also make rational decision-making and the theory of rational decision making implies that Apple buyers make judgement for their purchase after having sought sufficient information about Apple and its products and pricing, analysed the information and their implications before making the final decision to purchase the IPhone.
3. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of needs theory is also helpful to Apple marketers who seek people with higher order needs and wants to purchase their models - thus one who has reached the self actualisation stage.
4. The Equity theory is also applicable as people tend to be equal to others and thus Apple owners influence those who do not have an Apple I phone to purchase one as their devices reflect quality and status.
