The disadvantages are that there could be misinterpreted information, and a greater chnace for careless errors. The advantages of writing things down are that it ensures clarification and orevents the occurence of errors which can occur withe the former. The disadvantages are that one may require greater time and material, and may form a habit which may be a liability in emergency situations.
