A scientist collects a sample of 30 children who have been consistently exposed to adult smoking and 30 children who have not been consistently exposed to adult smoking. Amongst children exposed to smoke, the mean FVC is 74 with a standard deviation of 9. Amongst children not exposed to smoke, the mean FVC is 88 with a standard deviation of 15.
