In 250 words, Considering that digital pirates are always one step ahead of the movie and music industries, how should private companies attempt to protect their intellectual property?

Intellectual property rights are the rights given to people for new discovery , Innovation, art and for contribution in literature.These rights give the creator a special right over the use of his innovation.

i will list here some methods which assures protection of Intellectual property rights to private companies or organisations.

  1. patent: the government grants some special rights to an inventor that excludes others from selling or using the invention for a specific period.there are three types os patent :
  • utility
  • Design
  • plant

2 .Trademarks: These  are names, phrases, sounds or symbols used in association with services or products.unlike patients,which are granted for a short period, trademarks never end. Companies do need for apply for them and receive ownership confirmation .over time, trademarks become synonymous with a company name, and it becomes the identity of the company.

3. Copyrights : it usually ensures the (IP) rights and  protects written or artistic expressions fixed in a tangible medium,novels, poems, songs or movies. A copyright protects the expression of an idea, but not the idea itself. The owner of a copyrighted work has the right to reproduce it.in order to qualify under copyright laws, the work must be fixed in a tangible medium of expression, such as words or a piece of paper or music notes written on a sheet .

4 Trade Secrets: a trade secret is a formula, process,device, or other business information that private companies keep private to give them a business advantage over their competitors. Example of trade secret include:

  • Soda Formulas
  • Customer lists
  • survey results
  • computer algorithms
