E/Z configuration: if different groups are attached to double bonded carbon atoms then E/Z configuration is given. If same groups are attached cis/Trans configuration is given.

In E/Z give the priority order to the groups attached to double bonded based on atomic number. Higher atomic number group gets first priority and least atomic number group gets second priority.

If the high priority groups are present on same side of the double bond. Then it is Z configuration.

If the high priority groups present opposite side of the double bond then it is E-configuration.
