Virginity Pledges. According to a 2013 article in Pediatrics by Finer & Philbin, 61% of American 18-year-olds have had a first sexual experience. A researcher studies a sample of 120 college students who took a “virginity pledge” as teenagers and found that 68 of them had a first sexual experience prior to age 18. Is there sufficient evidence to conclude that, among teens who take virginity pledges, the proportion with a first sexual experience prior to age 18 is lower than the national norm?

a) State the alternative and hull hypotheses in symbols and words.

b) Determine the sample size and the sample proportion , rounded to two decimal places.

c) Compute the test statistic using the z formula, rounded to one decimal place.

d) Use table A-1 to find the P-value.

e) Can you reject the null hypothesis, using a .05 level of significance?
