I have collected data and have a graph with the sum of the forces on the y-axis and velocity squared on the x-axis. The equation from the graph is below. What does the slope represent? Is my answer simply that the sum of the forces are proportional to velocity squared?

y = 0.0335x - 0.0784

What are the units of slope? kg.m/s2 / m2s2

What does it mean?

Answer #1

Yes you are correct your answer should be there is linear relationship between sum of the forces and in velocity squared.

Yes, units of slope would again be equal to ratio of units of force and velocity squared.

As due to definition of the slope ,

Kg.m/s2 / m2s2

This defines the slope units.

The constant value in above relation

    The sum of the forces on an object is directly proportional to the mass of the object and directly proportional to the acceleration of the object. The second law is expressed by the equation: (1) F=ma If the mass is in kg and the acceleration in m/s2, then the force is in Newtons. In (1), F is the net applied force, m is the mass of the object on which the force is applied, and a is the acceleration of...
