In gravimetric methods, if sample is not dried completely, weight of compound could differ from actual mass. Also,
P2O5 (diphosphorous pentoxide) is a deliquescent compound, that means it can absorb moisture from air /atmosphere that may cause increase in weight of the sample.
or, this could be due to lack of proper washing with suitable solvent, due to which other compounds present in mixture is precipitating along with your compound i.e. co-precipitation may occur.
Post-precipitation chances are also there, which may lead to increase in weight pf sample.

SAPONIFICATION (HYDROLYSIS OF A FAD Fats and edible oils consitute a special class of esters called riglycerides in which alcohol part of the molecule, the trihydroxy compound glycerol, forms with three molecules of various long-chain carboxylic acids (called fatty acids). Recrystallization of Acetanilide Recrystallization is an important method used by chemists to purify solid compounds. When a chemist conducts a chemical reaction as shown in Scheme 1, it will rarely go to 100% completion, and will frequently produce byproducts. These byproducts and some of the unreacted starting materials will be present in the end as impurities. Chemists need ways to remove these unwanted impurities so they can isolate their...
Need help filling in my data sheet from a lab. My professor said
the pressure was 24.6 inches of Hg and that we needed to convert
that to moles. Im not sure i put that in the correct spot. I
included the lab protocol. Plz plz plz help me fill in the blanks
and let me know if i did something wrong Im very confused haha.
THANKS!!

What is the theoretical yield (in grams) and percent yield of your
triphenylmethanol product in this experiment? (Weight of
triphenylmethanol: 0.060g)
BACKGROUND AND THEORY The Grignard reaction was one of the first organometallic reactions discovered and is still one of the most useful synthetically. By reacting an organohalide (usually a bromide) with magnesium in ethereal solvent, carbon becomes a nucleophile. Grignard reagents are the starting points for the syntheses of many alkanes, primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols, alkenes, and carboxylic...
