The following data for 10 firstborn sons and 10 secondborn sons are consistent with the means and standard deviations reported in the article. The two samples are drawn independently (the Firstborn and Secondborn individuals here are not necessary to be brothers or sisters). You want to see if there is a difference in mean IQs between firstborn and secondborn sons.
