Answer #1

The place where we live, travel to, or where we suffer affects our ways of telling the story. Every story is inspired by a physical sense of habitation, interaction, injustice, suffering, pleasure or any other human experience. Exile, immigration, and the crossing of boundaries are experiences that can therefore provide us with new narrative forms for example:
Jawaharlal Nehru's “Autobiography” was written by him while he was in exile before he became Prime Minister of India. His experiences in exile played an important role in inspiring him to write and in determining his way of writing. Writing helped Nehru in employing his time constructively. While in exile, Nehru focused on self-analysis and reviewed past events in India and dedicated his story to the citizens of his own country.

Similarly, Ana Ruiz the writer of “Dominicana” was inspired by her life experiences as an immigrant in New York city. In her writing she explains how she left her native city “Dominican” and moved to an entirely different city and her journey as an immigrant. She explained the sufferings as well as the pleasure associated with being an immigrant. Her journey to New York inspired her to write and her experiences as an immigrant shaped her writing style.
