Why did the utility industry decide to use alternating current instead of direct current for power transmission?
AC is widely used because of properties of AC which DC doesn’t have.
In power application, the efficiency is determined by the efficiency of the unit being driven, such as an AC motor or a DC motor. In power transmission, the power lines act to some degree like a resistor; very low resistance per foot, but when multiplied by hundreds of miles, the total resistance to a DC current adds up to quite a bit. Therefore, a DC power system will have a considerable voltage drop at the point of application; and the current through those wires will dissipate energy, in proportion to the P=I2R product of the transmission lines. This is known as Line Loss.AC power involves elections moving back and forth, instead of one-way over long distances. So line losses are much lower. Also, AC can be (and is) stepped up to very high voltages for transmission, which is much more efficient.
there are many reason behind the utility use of AC
Why did the utility industry decide to use alternating current instead of direct current for power...
Why does the power outlet provides alternating and not a direct current? What is the benefit of AC as compared to DC? Why is AC to DC conversion necessary?
Please help. Thanks
Imagine a world where alternating current (AC) electric power systems were not discovered at all. Using concepts of electric power systems, speculate how would a world running on direct current (DC) electric power systems look like in contrast to an AC powered world (explain these differences in aspects of the science as well as the society).

Question 2- An alternating current power supply is connected as shown in the figure to a resistor, a capacitor, and an inductor. The power supply provides a voltage given by ε(t)-fo . cos(ωt). a) Make a phasor diagram and draw the voltage and current phasors for the resistor, capacitor, and inductor. (Be sure the phase relations between each phasor is clear, and be sure to label all phasors.) b) Use your diagram to find an equation for lo (the amplitude...
