Why is selecting information technology (hardware, software, telecommunication, etc.) for an organization an important business decision?
How emerging technologies can add value and change organizational structure and business models? What people organization, and technology issues should be considered when selecting information technology? (100-180 words)
The strategic outlook of a company must also represent their capacity, the aspect of capability as well as systems thinking we also need to make sure that the aspect of the systems present in the company are aligned with their strategies, allowing them to make use of better processes as a result. We can say that in order to make the best possible connection between strategy, capability, and competency, the company needs to be able to select systems which best complements their functionality and their outlook to make the best use of their processes as a result.
Emerging technologies have the added advantage of being able to improve the functional aspect of performance for a company. Not every technology is useful and no every technology has the same aspect of results for every company, we, therefore, need to recognize the need to be able to adopt a specific technology, especially with the change in the technological landscape and therefore, the company needs to be able to select technology, based on their own needs and the ability of the technology to be able to handle the aspect of competition better. Once we understand the need to adhere to the values of the competition, we can say that it allows them the ability to make use of technology, as pa of a connected system to benefit the entire organization and not just a specific part in isolation.
