What type of friction occurs when a body is already sliding in motion?

A) kinetic friction occurs when a body is already in sliding motion .

but when the body is at rest and has a tendency to move than static frictional forces would act .

There are also other frictional forces such as fluid friction ( also known as viscous force ) , aero friction , rolling friction etc .

Which direction is this friction force pointing?

A) kinetic friction is always in a direction opposite to the relative sliding between two bodies .

It is important to note that kinetic friction only opposes the relative slipping between two bodies .

It always ensures the relative rest between to bodies in contact .

kinetic friction can bring a moving body to rest , it also may help a body to move .

What does this say about the net force on the object now?

A) The net force on the body now is in a direction opposite to the direction of motion of the body .

The force would decelerate the body ,and the body will come to rest after sometime . and then this frictional

force stops to act ( because there is no relative motion between the two bodies in contact )..
