Let’s say example like if Fast food restaurant produce more foods than what customers look for then excess foods are waste, Waiting: Idle time created when material, information, people, or equipment is not ready –time when no value is added to the product/service. Example – for fast food restaurant, if all the Internal processes are not properly connected to make final food product, then there will be waiting time inclusion, which is typically a waste, Transporting: Movement of information, people, or materials that does not add value. In Fast food retail chain, any kind of extra transportation and time consuming and unnecessary Information, People and material movements are waste, Over processing: Efforts that add no value from the customer’s viewpoint. Example, any processed food for the customers, but added no value, where customers looking for necessary actions and giving negative feedback, so, such kind of over processing also typically waste, Excess Inventory / WIP (and/or Work Waiting) More information, projects, material on hand/waiting than can be worked on or the customer needs right now. For example, in fast food restaurant, any kind of WIP inventory, those are not adding any value to final product, such WIP Inventory is typically waste Unnecessary / Excess Motion: Movement of people that does not add value to the service/product. For example, in Fast food restaurant any kind of excess motion for organizational employee, can be considered as waste, Defects: Work that contains errors, becomes re-work, or lacks something necessary –errors that turn into “defects” if they reach the customer. for example, in fast food restaurant, any kind of poor quality foods or foods with defects like low heating, burn out all will be considered as waste : Underutilization of Employees: Capitalizing on employees' potential to eliminate the other seven wastes and continuously improve their performance. For fast food restaurants, employee engagement, rewarding takes important role for achieving organizational strategic performance, thus any kind of under utilization of employees can be considered as waste, |
