DENORMALIZATION:-

Denormalization is defined as a strategy which is being used for normalizing a database which in turn would increase the performance and also helps in improving the read performance of the database process.

This technique helps in improving the scalability of the Web applications and also includes the following

1) To Store the count of the elements in one-to-many relationships as the attribute for the 1 relation.

2) To also add the attributes for relation from among the relation which can be joined.

3) Prebuilding the OLAP cubes

4) Use of the star schema

There is a performance benefit associated with the denormalization process, it also helps in maintaining the scalability and also working better than another process in denormalization.

The disadvantages are it can lead to slow updates, as this is application specific hence it can be re-evaluated if any of the application gets changed. also, it is responsible for any complications in the coding.

Present generation updates are mainly important in day by day but denormalizartion slow update rate.

As the view would help in lining the query plan at the early stages and also optimizes the pipe lining and hence doesn't affect the performance in any manner and is simple in creation and implementation hence it is being used.
