What is the approximate wavenumber of the functional group region where functional groups exhibit their IR bands? What about the fingerprint region?
The approximate wave number ranges from 4000 to 650 cm-1.
Now finger print region is somewhat a complex region of IR spectroscopy.Firstly it ranges from 1500 - 500 cm-1 in the right hand region of spectrum. It is the region where all the bending vibrations are recorded. It is so called because this region helps us to recognise unknown molecules.Even if 2 molecules howsoever closely related can be distinguished in this region hence called as finger print region.
What is the approximate wavenumber of the functional group region where functional groups exhibit their IR...
What is the main PURPOSE or FUNCTION of IR spectrometry (to identify functional groups). What is the "fingerprint" region and what primary purpose does it serve? Describe how IR spectrometry could be used to monitor the reduction of nitrobenzene to aniline. What IR would decrease, and which would increase as the reaction was conducted?

so far i think that there is a saturated C-H at
~2900cm-1 and a carbonyl group at ~1300 cm-1.

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is used to identify functional groups
within a molecule. Which of these regions corresponds to the
fingerprint region for the molecule below?
A region of the IR spectrum can be used to differentiate between similar compounds that contain the same functional groups. Select the correct name of this region. O O O the downfield region the fingerprint region the functional group region the Ri region
