In your own words, what is the difference between consequentialism and non-consequentialism in ethics? Is there anything about which you are a non-consequentialist, and can you give a reasoned argument as to why others should be as well?
Consequentialism theory of ethics is related to the consequences of an action. The goodness or badness of an action is based on the consequences.
On other hand, non consequentialism theory of ethics is related to the assumption that actions are in their own root good or bad. The consequences of the action have nothing to do with the obvious goodness or badness.
For example, compassion is a just, good and right aspect of life. Being compassionate is a non consequentialism facet and does not relate to consequences.
I am non consequentialIst because I feel that liberty is a trait with obvious inherent goodness.
Whatever are the consequences, liberty must be provided to not only human beings but other living creatures like animals, birds, insects and trees.
Others should also be non consequentialists regarding liberty because no living being can imagine life without liberty.
