What are the similarities and dissimilarities between the cultures, values and beliefs of Southwest and AirTran airlines?
Southwest and AirTran had one similarity in their value and it is to provide a fun environment while using their services. In terms of cultural differences, there are some as well. AirTran culture is to provide good demeanor with customers (not much interaction), while Southwest focuses on creating a fun environment making and training employees to interact more with customers. Their values are slightly different because AirTran’s values are a commitment to safety, technical excellence, continuous learning, fun and profit. Southwest’s values are “A warrior spirit, A servants heart, A fun-loving attitude”. They look the pretty much the same but they are different in my opinion. AirTran focus on technical excellence (good demeanor), continuous learning (IS) and profit. Southwest is more of customers going first type of company? They value the customer and it is all about them being treated as well as it can be.
