Reasonable doubt basically is the minimum standard evidence or proof which must be exceeded and presented to the court to prove the accused guilty and demand conviction in any kind of criminal case. This state of exceeding the reasonable doubt is termed as beyond the reasonable doubt in legal terms.

12 Angry men is a classic to explain the importance of reasonable doubt. The jury was presented with reasonable doubt to doubt the accused but it was not considered sufficient to prove the accused as guilty. There was lack of evidence to prove the guilt of the accused beyond a reasonable doubt. Initially the jury started voting with 11-1 in favor of the accused. However with deliberations and discussions, the jury voted 12-0 in favor of the accused being not guilty. The evidences helped in making the decision quite certain for the jury and led to the final verdict.
