Answer #1

What type of epithelial tissue would be found in an organ that needs to prevent water loss? Keratinized stratified squamous epithelium.

The keratinized stratified squamous epithelium, found in the skin, consists of living cells in the deepest layers, and the outermost layers are composed of dead cells containing the protein keratin. The dead, keratinized cells give the tissue a dry, durable, moisture-resistant character and prevents water loss.
