Answer #1

A parallel development process would most likely not be appropriate to an industry in which small product design changes bring about large process design changes. In such examples, it may be important to have a product design totally completed before process design initiates. This might be more task explicit than industry explicit. For instance, if a firm is mulling over whether to build a section out of squeezed steel or infusion shaped plastic, such a choice will have an intense ramification for the design process utilized and it is probably not going to begin process design until product design is concluded. Additionally, if a product design will require administrative or client endorsement, it may not bode well to begin process design or manufacturing until such endorsement is verified.
