  1. Two axons, A and B, from the same species have identical membrane and axoplasm resistivities. However the resistance of a one cm length of axon A is ¼ the core resistance of axon B. Calculate the expected ratio of the velocities of propagation in these two axons.

b)Two axons (sciatic nerve) from the frog have radii of 2x10-5 m and 1x10-5 m. In the first axon a spike was timed electronically to travel a distance of 0.02 m in 5x10-4 s.  Calculate the time required for a spike to travel a similar distance in the second axon.
