Successes Of J.F.K's Presidency

Kennedy's successes greatly outnumbered his failures. Some of these successes include:

• JFK carried out a wide range of important reforms under a program called ‘New Frontier’. It included action areas like increase in unemployment benefits, housing and transportation, pollution control in water bodies and anti-poverty legislation etc.
• He started helping with the civil rights of African Americans
• JFK effectively resolved the Cuban crisis by preventing the Russians from attacking America with the missiles deployed in Cuba
• He established the Peace Corps with the objective of helping under-developed nations in areas of education, farming, health care, and construction.
• JFK was pivotal in getting USSR, UK and US sing the partial Nuclear Test Ban in order to curb the detrimental effects on environment
• He prohibited discrimination by instituting various executive orders to ensure all employees are treated equal in terms of race, creed, color or national origin. He gave speeches on racial integration at various platforms and banned segregation in federally funded housings

Failures of J.F.K's Presidency

• The Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba failed during JFK presidency. 100s of US soldiers were killed during the battle
• JFK couldn’t get the Civil Rights Act passed. It was passed however after he was assassinated
• JFK got US involved deeply in Vietnam war
