Funneling is the key process that uses the filtration approaches and helps in filtering out the non-significant factors from the process and keeps the significant factor in the selection making process for the suppliers. When we are having large number of factors that can impact the process and that are required to be use in the process, then we will explore the funneling process so that we can segregate and eliminate the non significant factors from the process and keeps the key factor that are useful and significant for the process. Hence funneling is right approach in supplier selection process, as it will help in eliminating non relevant factors for supplier selection and will keep the relevant factors that are useful for supplier selection

Accuracy of the Funnel metaphor: The accuracy of the funnel metaphor is that the filtration criteria that we have used should be useful and relevant for the supplier selection process, as it should be able to make the lower rating for the non relevant factor and high rating for the relevant factors so that we can make the funneling effectively. The funneling is purely depends upon the quality of information used in making the suitable decision for the process.

Logic application is that funneling is the tool that filters out the lot of factors into relevant factors and non relevant factors that is purely depends upon the quality of the criteria used in the funneling process.

Data application is that we can use the data in the funneling process and can see the outcome a filtered outcome for the process. The supplier selection needs to have data like productivity level, quality defects ppm, delivery performance, response performance, pricing, support new development etc. All the data will get high rating will be carry forward in the funneling process for supplier selection process.
