Air isn't a perfect electric insulator, but it does have a very high resistivity. Dry air has a resistivity of approximately 3× 1013Ω⋅ m. Assume we have a capacitor with square plates 16 cm on a side separated by 2.0 mm of dry air.

a. Assuming that the air between the capacitor's plates can be treated like any other resistor, find its resistance value.

b. If the capacitor is charged to 300 V , what current will flow between the plates of the capacitor? Make two approximations: That the potential difference doesn't change as the charge flows and that the air obeys Ohm's law.

c. What fraction of its initial charge will the capacitor lose after one minute?

    1. Two 13.0-cm-diameter electrodes 0.35 cm apart form a parallel-plate capacitor. The electrodes are attached by metal wires to the terminals of a 15 V battery. a. What is the electric field strength inside the capacitor after insulating handles are used to pull the electrodes away from each other until they are 1.1 cm apart? The electrodes remain connected to the battery during this process. 2. Air isn't a perfect electric insulator, but it does have a very high resistivity....

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
