Due to the implementation of various technological devices such as surveillance cameras, key cards, it has become easier for companies to track and monitor the movement of employees, their internet usage for personal use and telephonic conversations. However, it has also put a cloud of distrust among employees regarding their privacy in the workplace.
Since the companies can monitor every moment of the employees, it creates a sense of distrust between the management and employees and the employee may feel they are being continuously monitored or being watched over. This can be harmful to the efficiency and productivity of the employees. It also lowers the morale of the employees and results in job fatigue.
Also, it is an attack on the employees' right to privacy. Therefore, companies need to formulate policies to protect the privacy of the employees and to keep the monitoring to basic level without impinging upon their rights of employees.
