When we are doing research in a university or in a lab, we have to dress professionally. Also if we are doing a research project in our college or we are doing research at NASA, then also we have to dress professionally. So basically we have to dress professionally when we are doing research with a group of people in an organization.
On the other hand, if we are researching our own on a particular topic out of curiosity then we don't have to dress professionally. We can do individual research by sitting at our home or at a public place but we don't need to dress professionally.
