What are the differences between qualitative research(for example, focus group interview), and quantitative research(for example, online survey) in marketing research. (Please in long explanation)

Qualitative research is more realistic and close to the thinking capacity than quantitative which is more of numerical facts. In qualitative research thoughts and explanations are given more importance whereas in quantitative statistics are given more importance. Qualitative research helps in gathering the required information and gaining basic knowledge based on which a quantitative research is done. This means qualitative research is the beginning step of quantitative research . We first gain information and then conduct surveys to get this information in the form of facts.

In any research gathering information and conducting discussions is qualitative research which is very useful to carry out the complete research whereas collecting the actual transactions done and the feed backs is the quantitative research . Qualitative research is important for quantitative research but quantitative research is not much important for qualitative research .
