Montesquieu noted the concentration of poor countries are generally located between the tropics and rich ones tend to be in more temperate environments and proposed that people in tropical climates tended to be lazy and lack inquisitiveness; he also speculated that lazy people tended to be ruled by despots. In contemporary times, this same school of thought now emphasizes that tropical diseases have consequences for health and production while also arguing that tropical soils do not allow for productive agriculture. What hypothesis does not work with what is mentioned above: Cultural hypothesis, Ignorance hypothesis, geography hypothesis, or disease hypothesis?
1. Cultural Hypothesis: It states about a threshold age before which children are influenced by their surrounding environments i.e written languages, formal education etc. Social Learning in other words, is defined as learning that are influenced by the interactions and observations of surroundings. And it is more Efficient than individual exploration and learning and humans tend to rely more on this type of learning to acquire various skills.
2. Ignorance Hypothesis:- It focuses on the underlying idea that poor nations are poor because their leadership unknowingly adopts bad economic policies. It is not very much related to the geography or location of the nation. It is not just about market failure, but about all economic theories that do not accurately explain economic phenomena but are put into practice anyways.
3. Disease Hypothesis :- It focuses on the weakening of immune system because of lack of exposure to infectious agents, probiotics and parasites. It increases susceptibility to allergy by decreasing the natural development of the immune system. Its roots come from the "old friend hypothesis" which states that humans have become so dependent on these microbes that we can neither develop nor function properly without them.
4. GEOGRAPHY Hypothesis:- this is the only hypothesis that work for the above mentioned paragraph. It states that the geography, climate, ecology of a society's location shape both its technology and incentives of its habitants..
Thus only geography hypothesis is the only thing on which above paragraph is based.
