Corpus delicti is a concept that suggest that before trying to prove someone guilty, one should prove that the crime itself has taken place. This would mean that in the absence of such a crime, one cannot be proven guilty. It has to be proven before one start collecting statutory evidences against a defendant. Most of the time people would try to prove that one has committed a crime without providing evidences for such a crime.
