Note that there's more to diversity than gender. Diversity means
providing a workplace that consists of many different types of
people. Different races are only one example. Further choices for
inclusion are different religious backgrounds, different races,
different nationalities, and different physical abilities.
Recruitment across a broader geographic area. You will attract more
potential candidates by widening the regional scope of your
recruitment.
Concentration on maintenance. Most organisations find that they can
attract a number of candidates, but over time, due to a higher
turnover rate for some groups, the organizational culture remains
homogeneous. If this is a phenomenon in your organisation
concentrate on retention efforts
There may be omnipresent behaviors and behavior that end up splitting the workforce, making certain groups feel excluded. These need to be discussed in order to maintain workplace diversity. Try using workplace surveys to gage how employees feel about these subjects as a way to find out about problems before they cause employees to leave.
Consider providing education on diversity. This can allow the
company to be even more diverse, which can help with recruitment
efforts. It can help people understand the benefits of having a
more diverse and inclusive workplace, which in turn leads to
creating a more welcoming environment.
Don't forget to promote diversity, not just in recruitment, at all
rates. If the environment of the workforce at the upper levels is
not inclusive, there will be less incentive to sustain diversity in
particular. If not all workers see that they have a chance to
achieve their personal goals, they may be more likely to leave.
When setting the hiring criteria, do not focus exclusively on
the grades of the applicant. Take into account underlying factors
such as former employer feedback and awards or training
received.
Be versatile in setting the criteria for learning. In addition to
years of or relevant professional experience, a Master's degree
credential may be interspersed with a Bachelor's degree
title.
To perform the interviews, form a diverse recruiting board. In the
selection process, this will ensure objectivity and equality.
Do not organize various people in the organization's chosen
units. Place them in both the creative department and the technical
departments. Instead, through social events or team building
activities, allow employees to have opportunities for communication
and networking.
Develop policies that foster a work culture and environment that is
diversity-friendly. Offer flexible schedules, leave options,
choices for meals, recreational activities, etc.
